American Skeet
American Skeet is a popular clay target shooting discipline where shooters aim to break clay targets launched from two machines—one from high and one from low positions—across a semi-circular shooting layout.
Compak
A dynamic combination of sporting clays and trap shooting where competitors rotate through stations facing targets with diverse trajectories.
Down-the-Line Trap
A beginner-friendly clay shooting discipline where targets are launched away from the shooter in a predictable pattern.
Tower
Tower is a specific discipline of clay target shooting where clays are launched from a high tower, typically around 10 to 15 metres tall, presenting a consistent but vertically challenging target flight. It’s officially recognised in some shooting organisations, especially in Australia, as a fun and competitive variation of trap shooting.

Queensland has a proud history of success in clay target shooting at national and international levels. Through our state team selection processes, we identify and support Queensland's top shooters to represent our state at National Championships and other prestigious events.
About us
Set on the edge of the Darling Downs with sweeping rural views, the Toowoomba Clay Target Club is one of Queensland’s largest and longest-running clay target clubs — proudly operating for more than 100 years.
Located at Charlton since 1966 and run entirely by passionate volunteers, our Club is known for its friendly atmosphere, strong culture of safety, and a calendar packed with shoots for every level of experience. We welcome everyone from first-time visitors to seasoned competitors.
With six Trap layouts, four Skeet layouts, two Tower layouts and resources for Sporting, our facilities are among the most versatile in the state. We host monthly Trap competitions, regular Skeet carnivals, our 2-Day April Trap Carnival, Iron Man events, Christmas and ANZAC shoots, and a range of other special fixtures throughout the year.
Whether you’re chasing competition success, looking for a social day out, or wanting to learn something new, you’ll find a welcoming community, great facilities, and a genuine love of the sport at the Toowoomba Clay Target Club.
