Queensland has a proud history of success in clay target shooting at national and international levels. Through our state team selection processes, we identify and support Queensland's top shooters to represent our state at National Championships and other prestigious events.
About us
“Nestled on the banks of the Balonne River in the small country town of Surat, Queensland (home to around 400 people), the Surat Clay Target Club is a proud, family-operated club that welcomes shooters of all ages and abilities. The club currently offers Down The Line (DTL) Trap, Sporting Clays, and ISSF Trap (practice only), with plans already underway to expand into Skeet shooting with a new layout in the near future.
Monthly competition days are held on the third Saturday of each month, run in conjunction with Maranoa Sporting Clays. These days are a highlight on the local shooting calendar, with Sporting Clays kicking off at 10am and DTL beginning at 1pm — a full day of clay target shooting in a relaxed, supportive environment.
The biggest event of the year is the club’s Annual Two-Day Carnival, held on the first weekend of March, which draws shooters from across the region for a great weekend of competition, camaraderie, and country hospitality. Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or someone looking to give clay target shooting a try, Surat Clay Target Club is all about combining the spirit of sport with the warmth of a close-knit community.”
