    American Skeet

    American Skeet is a popular clay target shooting discipline where shooters aim to break clay targets launched from two machines—one from high and one from low positions—across a semi-circular shooting layout.

    Down-the-Line Trap

    A beginner-friendly clay shooting discipline where targets are launched away from the shooter in a predictable pattern.

    Sporting Clays / 5 Stand

    Often called "golf with a shotgun," this discipline simulates hunting scenarios with varied target presentations across multiple shooting stations.

    Queensland has a proud history of success in clay target shooting at national and international levels. Through our state team selection processes, we identify and support Queensland's top shooters to represent our state at National Championships and other prestigious events.

    About us

    “Located in the heart of Rockhampton, the Rockhampton Clay Target Club is a friendly and inclusive sporting club dedicated to the discipline of clay target shooting.

    The club boasts 4 DTL (Trap) Layouts, 3 Skeet Layouts and a 5 Stand Sporting Layout.

    The club hosts its large Annual Down-The-Line (DTL) Carnival on the second weekend in June, attracting competitors from across Queensland and beyond.

    Throughout the year, the club runs regular monthly DTL (American Trap) competitions, offering members and visitors a great opportunity to test their skills in a competitive yet supportive environment.

    Known for its fun and welcoming atmosphere, the club’s members and committee pride themselves on creating a space where shooters of all levels feel at home. Practice sessions and coaching are available, with experienced coaches on hand to assist newcomers and help seasoned shooters improve their performance.”
